A tisket, a tasket — give your mom a basket!

Enough with the canvas bags. You can be an environmentally conscious shopper with a touch of panache by carrying a Jeanne Beatrice market basket. All the French ladies are doing it. Laura Benson of Edina took note of the chic basket trend on a trip to Provence, France, and was inspired to create a line of her own.

Jeanne Beatrice (Jeanne is Benson's middle name; Beatrice is her daughter Ella's) baskets are handwoven in Morocco from renewable resources, including water reeds and palm leaves. They're strong and durable, with leather trim and handles that make them stylish enough to carry as a handbag. There are 15 styles and sizes, ranging from $39 to $149. You'll find them at local retailers, including Juut Salonspas, Ampersand at the Galleria and Rick Rack in Linden Hills. Or order online at JeanneBeatrice.com.
