Presented with a mouthwash that claims to provide 12 hours of fresh breath, we knew the perfect candidate to test it: the husband. He protested, but weakly. Maintaining minty breath could only work to his advantage.

SmartMouth comes in two bottles to keep the active ingredients separate until it's time to rinse. There was no instant burst of freshness like you get with common mouthwash. The taste was more medicine-like and left us with cottonmouth for a few minutes. But if you can get past that, it does seem to help.

We're not forecasting morning make-out sessions like you see in soap operas, but this product takes the edge off repelling breath, making it well worth a try. SmartMouth sells for around $11 at major retail chains.
