You might not want to commit to a summer of weekly produce baskets from your local farmer, but what about a dozen eggs?
Aisling Acres of Beldenville, Wis., is offering an egg CSA - a dozen per week for 25 weeks. The cost is $75, which works out to $3 per week.
As part of the Community Supported Agriculture program, the eggs will be dropped off at St. Paul Cheese Shop on Grand Avenue near Snelling Avenue in St. Paul (1573 Grand Ave., St. Paul; 651-698-3391; stpaulcheeseshop.com). Pickup is from noon to 6 p.m., starting Friday, March 30.
The chickens that lay these eggs spend most of their waking hours outdoors eating natural foods, and the yolks are a deep, deep yellow, says St. Paul Cheese Shop manager Benjamin Roberts, who uses the eggs at the store and is offering the drop-off as a public service.
"They really put the other eggs in town to shame," he says.
To sign up, call 651-324-3379.
