Creativity expert, professor, father and former day care provider Rustin Wolfe writes a weekly MinnMoms parenting advice column that uses creative punishments to put a positive spin on negative behavior.
Here's one of his creative solutions:
PLAY WITH YOUR FOOD
Question: Is there anything I can do to get my little guy to focus on eating?
Problem: Need to complete meal.
Solution: Play with food.
Activity: My big guy taught me this one. He jammed a fried wonton noodle into his chicken nugget, flipped it over like a lollipop and then sprinkled rice on top. His once-distracted little brother saw and immediately copied the technique. In a matter of minutes, they'd eaten their entire dinner. The additional challenge made eating interesting (think: fondue). And, of course, anything's more fun if big brother is doing it.
